PlayStation 4 Release Date News: October Arrival In US; PS4 DualShock 4 Controller Tested To Measure Gamers’ Sweat

Reports indicate that PlayStation 4 release date in the US is already set in late October. Also, the DualShock controller was tested for so many things including sweat measurement.

Through there were no official PlayStation 4 release date yet announced by Sony, some major retailers were already showing some hints as to when is the next-gen gaming console will arrive. For instance, GameStop, together with other retailers are seeing a late October release in US.

But aside from retailers, another authority has confirmed the PlayStation 4 release date. According to the Creative Director of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, confirming to Computer and Video Games, the PlayStation 4 release date will either be on October 31 or November 1, as it will be 'Same Ship' with Ubisoft's action packed game.

But aside from the PlayStation 4 release date, gamers are already excited with the latest version of the PS4 controller, the DualShock 4. Mark Cerny, the lead system architect of Sony, had an interview with Stuff magazine who shared that the firm had tried several ideas for the controller of its latest consoled.

Cerny said, Sony "looked at pretty much any idea we could think of" when they were updating the Dualshock 4, and apparently, it included measuring player's stress based on the amount of sweat on their hands.

Cerny further shared, "Would it help to measure the galvanic response of the skin? We tried out a tremendous number of things -- and then we went to the game teams to ask them what they thought they could use from the controller."

According to the report, this is not a first time for gaming firm to check the gamer's vital. Way back 1998, Nintendo featured a heart rate monitor and more recently, Wii offered a vitality sensor.

Furthermore, aside from the experiments made for the Sony PlayStation 4 DualShock controller, there are other gaming companies experimenting with biometrics. Gamers would be delighted to know that Valve has already started conducting sweat-based experiments for its 'Left 4 Dead' series, which can adjust the gameplay based on the excitement of the games.
