Seoul Broadcasting System Apologizes For Sulli Of f(x) Cursing In Chinese On Sunday's 'Running Man' Episode

Network executives from the Seoul Broadcasting System apologized this week for a Chinese expletive singer Sulli Choi from the K-pop girl group f(x) let drop on Sunday's broadcast of the television program "Running Man."

Observing the competition from the sidelines with professional soccer players Park Ji Sung and Patrice Evra, roughly 63-minutes into the episode, Sulli is heard yelling out "cao ni ma," a Chinese phrase similar to "you mother**cker," in English.

Both the show's producer's and the network censors reportedly failed to catch the Chinese curse word.

In an official statement, SBS execs said the whole incident was an accident.

"Apparently, the words came through while [Sulli] was cracking a few jokes," the SBS statement read.

"In any case, the editing mistake is a failure on our part, and we will edit this out in the online streaming version. We will be careful in the future to make sure something like this doesn't happen again."

Sulli's record label SM Entertainment also wrote the whole thing off as a misunderstanding to the website Soompi.

"At the time of incident, the staff and celebrities were talking about the Chinese language. That's when the swear word came out," an SM Entertainment spokesperson explained.

"Sulli didn't know it was a swear word. She was just imitating the word without knowing what it meant and that part did not get edited out."

The production team for "Running Man" production team apologized that the Chinese swear word made it into the broadcast.

"We didn't know that Sulli's voice aired. It is the editing team's mistake," the production staff spokesperson said.

"We will edit that certain part out for the reruns. We will be more careful so this kind of thing does not happen in the future."

The Chinese curse words, which were originally caught by a viewer who posted their findings online, sparked major discussion Wednesday, as 200 allkpop readers discussed the topic in the website's comments section.

"She doesn't even sound like she's cursing," wrote reader Eccentric11. "Well, either way no one should judge her from a four-second clip."

Reader Naudrey can't even figure out what the fuss is about.

"Seriously? [Sulli] basically only said 2 or 3 sentences on the show," Naudrey wrote.

"She had pretty much no screen time and never did anything interesting that was broadcasted. She was the quiet and pretty girl on the side, how can they still find anything she did wrong?"
