Geraldo Rivera posted semi-nude photos of himself on Twitter early Sunday Morning.  He appeared to be naked except for a pair of rose-tinted glasses and a strategically placed towel.  He said on Twitter: "70 is the new 50 (Erica and family are going to be so pissed...but at my age...)"

Selfies are a new mode of art for celebrities.  Well known Pop singers and Idols such as Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Sofia Vergara have all posted selfies photos.  Selfies pics are all about how you wish to portray yourself.  Naked or clothed, it doesn't matter!  Selfies can include props that display the consumer affectations that one best identifies with as well, and many celebrity selfies include large amounts of gold jewelry, expensive watches, fast cars, and other accoutrements of identity.

You don't have to be Rihanna or Kim Kardashian to get in on the nude selfie crazy - even regular people take selfies pics.  Some have Facebook profiles full of selfies photos.  Perhaps they are emulating their favorite celebs, or perhaps they too are trying to test out new forms of identity creation.  Perhaps they don't have friends to take their photos.  Selfies evolved from the famous MySpace Angles shot, and are about taking as flattering a picture as possible.  Flattering selfie angles have the ability to make one look thinner, with better facial bone structure and skin, due to control of lighting conditions and poor resolution on cameras.

Whatever the motivations of Kim Kardashian or regular girls-next-door, it is hard to discern the motivations of 70-year-old Geraldo Rivera posting nude selfie photos.  Geraldo Rivera is an accomplished attorney and talk show host who does not need to get naked to get viewers.  Regular guests on the Geraldo Rivera show included LaToya Jackson.  Perhaps he wanted to send a message to his five ex-wives to let them know what they are missing!

Geraldo Rivera may have accomplishments to make a man proud, but he also shows pride in his naked physique.  A healthy body is an accomplishment and takes great care. Nude selfie photos are a great way to commemorate and celebrate the physical before the inevitable.
