Sara Bareilles `Blessed Unrest’ Debuts at No. 2, May Topple Jay Z From Top Spot; `I Choose You’ May Be the New Gay Wedding Theme (Video)

Sara Bareilles’ “Blessed Unrest” is set to debut at the Number 2 slot on the Billboard 200 Album Chart. The third album by pop pianist Sara Bareilles, who was recently replaced by Jewel on NBC’s The Sing-Off, includes the song “I Choose You,” which Pride Magazine predicts will be the new gay wedding theme.

Sara Bareilles’ new album "The Blessed Unrest" is on its way to sell around 65,000 copies by the end of the week. Sara Bareilles’ “Brave,” the first single from the album, was called “possibly the best LGBT anthem of the past five years” by SheWired. “Brave” is an empowering song that was inspired by the coming out of Bareilles’ gay friends.

Jay Z’s new album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" is holding on to the number one slot for a second week. It debuted at No. 1 last week with 528,000 records sold. "Kaleidoscope Heart," Sara Bareilles' last full-length studio album, debuted at Number 1 in 2010. Sara Bareille’s pop hit “Love Song” peaked at number four 2008.

Pride Magazine wrote “Maybe you didn't ask for it, but Sara Bareilles wrote you a love song anyway. … With her third disc, the pop pianist is giving the gays their wedding theme: "I Choose You," an undeniably irresistible ditty - cello included for added romanticism - that's a sweet ode to love, the good and the bad. … If you ever wondered what Sarah McLachlan sounded like singing over a Sigur Ros track, wonder no more.”

Sara Bareilles played a nurse at a special performance of the hit show “Sleep No More” at the McKittrick Hotel in New York City on July 10. She was one of the judges on NBC's “The Sing-Off.” Jewel took her slot alongside Ben Folds and Shawn Stockman from Boyz II Men when she decided not to return to the Nick Lachey-hosted show.

The latest album Bareilles is a risky with her transition into more mature, somber pieces.
