Pokemon X And Y Leaks Confirmed Fake [UPDATE]: Leaker Causes Polarizing Fan Reactions For 'Study'?

The recent uproar in the Pokemon X and Y leaks have been confirmed to be fake by the leaker himself (or herself), in what the leaker says was a study to "investigate the reaction of a fanbase, in particular a video game fanbase, to receiving information about their beloved franchise."

"I have seen many people calling me an attention seeker, or saying that I only did this to boost my ego but this was not the case," writes the leaker in a blog post after several appearances on PokeJungle, Serebii, PokeBeach, Marriland, and Bulbagarden forums.

"The reaction to all of this was highly mixed, I had many people praising my ideas, and putting a lot of faith in what I was saying even though I had proven no sort of legitimacy."

"But then I had others who were giving me dog's abuse for what at the end of the day were just some words on a website. I even had some people telling me I should die, that I should kill myself and criticizing me for this supposed big ego that I had."

Although the leaker claims to have no mal-intent outside of experimentation, the leaks he fabricated were obviously intended to rile Pokemon X and Y fans.

Some of these fake leaks included information on the legendary Pokemon, the starter Pokemon evolutions, the identity and types of the gym leaders and Elite Four, Team Flare, as well as the Pokemon Champion.

So, despite the extreme reaction, it is not really a surprise, given the depth to which the leaks sunk to in terms of playing with Pokemon X and Y fans' excitement.

And so far, the fan reaction to these Pokemon X and Y leaks are indeed varied and fascinating.

"Honestly, I had a lot of fun reading your rumors. What I didn't care for was like 3 more posters coming after you claiming to be leakers as well," writes a Pokemon fan on the leaker's blog.

"I'm a bit disappointed because some of your ideas sounded pretty cool, but then again, I was waiting until proof came up either way as opposed to the people who just said that you were fakes almost immediately," says Tobi on the blog.

And despite some extremely negative reactions, some Pokemon X and Y fans have even taken the fake rumors to make fake illustrations of fake Pokemon like Outland'sh (meant to be an evolution of Farfetch'd)!

So, whether you hate it or love, the recent trend of fake Pokemon X and Y leaks have definitely entertained the masses.
