Sherlock Season 3 Introduces Villain Charles Augustus Magnussen [PHOTO]: Is Lars Mikkelsen In The Episode 3 Finale?

As "Sherlock" season 3 prepares to finishing filming episode 3, a new villain by the name of Charles Augustus Magnussen has been announced, played by Lars Mikkelsen ("The Killing").

"Sherlock" producer Sue Vertue first broke the news on her Twitter page, along with a picture of Magnussen with an unsettling stare.

Out of the three episodes planned for "Sherlock" season 3, it is unclear which one Mikkelsen will star in, and although it is possible Magnussen will be in more than one episode, rumors are circulating that he will be the primary antagonist for episode 3.

The reason behind this theory is that episode is set to start filming next month, and as such, the timing of the press release seems to make sense.

"I just got the script [for episode 3] and it's another early birthday present, because it is amazing," says Cumberbatch according to Hypable.

"I don't want to hype it too much because we haven't made it yet but what a script! Steven Moffat is brilliant."

"Sherlock" season 3 episode 3 is titled "His Law Vow," and will film until early September.

In addition, episode 1 titled "The Empty Hearse" will presumably deal primarily with the fallout of the season 2 finale, and will feature Moriarty in flashbacks. As such, it seems unlikely Charles Augustus Magnussen will be introduced on top of everything else during the season 3 premiere.

So what do you think of this new villain for "Sherlock" season 3?
