3 Children Injured as Car Crashes Into Kansas City Day Care Center; 2 Kids Pinned by Car Rescued; 40 Children in the Center at the Time (Video)

Three children and two adults were seriously injured when a car crashed into a Kansas City day care center earlier today. There were about 40 children in the building at the time of the crash, which involved two vehicles. All children have been accounted for. Parents whose children attend the daycare are asked to meet at 27th and Monroe in Kansas City, Mo. The car is still inside the center. Kansas City Fire Department to determine how to stabilize the building.

Authorities said an SUV collided with a second car in front of the Christian Academy Daycare at 3600 block of East 27th Street , 3611 E. 27th between Monroe and Askew, in Kansas City, Mo. The collision sent the second vehicle hurtling toward the building, pinning two of the children. Kansas City Police Sgt. Marisa Barnes said the police got the call at 12:56 p.m.

Kansas City communications director Danny Rotert said the children were taken to Children's Mercy Hospital. It is not yet known how severe the injuries are. The SUV driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the person driving the car that hit the building is now known. It is being reported that he was not present at the scene of the incident after it occurred.

About 40 kids were in the in the Christian Academy Daycare at the time of the collision. It is believed that all children have been accounted for. The Kansas City Fire Department say the building is not stable and they are trying to determine how to keep the structure stabilized.

Aerial footage from KMBC showed a vehicle with a crumpled front at the front of the Christian Academy Child Care, in Kansas City, Mo. The footage shows a large hole and scattered debris outside the building. Emergency workers can be seen outside the building.
