“Game of Thrones” creator George RR Martin revealed that Roger Ashton-Griffiths will play Mace Tyrell, who is the father of Loras Tyrell, who is played by Finn Jones, and Margaery Tyrell, who is played by Natalie Dormer, for the fourth season. On his blog, the “Game of Thrones” author called Ashton-Griffiths a "fine British character actor.”
George RR Martin recently had to defend the choice of Chilean actor Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper. Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow also defended the “Game of Thrones” casting choice. He told Yahoo! TV "I haven't seen him in costume yet, but I have had dinner with him a couple of times. He's a lovely man. He's going to be brilliant. It's an amazing character and quite the story line. You're going to enjoy it. [Fans] won't be disappointed, Pedro Pascal is the man for the job."
Roger Ashton-Griffiths, 56, has been seen in “Torchwood” and “The Tudors.” Ashton-Griffiths will play Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming movie biography on Grace Kelley called “Grace of Monaco,” which will star Nicole Kidman.
"Game of Thrones" doesn’t return until 2014, but the show is in production. Kit Harington said, "We are very near the start. We shoot July through December. We've just started and have a long way to go. Everyone's extremely nervous because we've got a lot to do. Everyone is always nervous at this stage every year and we always get it done. I've got great hopes for this season. I've read it and it's fantastic. You're going to love it. It's my favorite so far."
Harrington isn’t giving out any spoilers about the new season, which is based on a book series, so it shouldn’t be so hard to figure out, but let a little bit slip about his character Jon Snow. He said "Well I do know where he goes… I'd like him to go and rescue Arya, but I don't think he's going to be able to. I'd like to see him collect Sansa, Arya, and Bran and just take them to the wall or something."
"Game of Thrones" comes back with season 4 in spring 2014.
