The media sensationalism on the case gets a social media twist, now that a dedicated Twitter account focused on Oscar Pistorius murder case is active and live on the information network.
Twitter user, @OscarTrial has 2,857 followers and in its bio it says, “Oscar Pistorius has been granted bail and now awaiting trial. Tweets are retweets of journalists as well as analysis.”

“Why Did Oscar Pistorius Kill Our Daughter” documentary to be shown in South Africa
The controversial BBC documentary “Why Did Oscar Pistorius Kill Our Daughter?” will be screened on Discovery Channel in South Africa this Sunday, according to the Times Live.
In the documentary, Reeva’s parents, June and Barry Steenkamp, reportedly divulge what they knew of Reeva’s relationship with Oscar Pistorius and their thoughts on the upcoming trial this August 19. The next trial date for Oscar would also have been the 30th birthday of Reeva if she was alive.
The hour-long documentary, which was first shown in the U.K. a week before Oscar’s previous court appearance, cover Steenkamp’s career as a model and show some of the painting she did as a child. One of those, according to her mom, June Steenkamp, seems to be a prediction of how she would die.
The painting was of a gunman standing under a tree and a girl with an angel’s wings with her hands to her face. Next to the girl is a staircase, which June and Barry said they believe leads to heaven.
They claim that it was a premonition of Reeva of how she would die, with the elder Steenkamp’s concluding that the supermodel predicted her manner of death.
“It is a premonition of what happened to her. And she’s petrified. She’s showing horror and she’s afraid,” June said.
“Her hands are over her mouth and she’s terrified,” she added.
Magistrate warns against “trial by media” of Paralympian
Last June during the athlete’s most recent court appearance, a South African magistrate said that Oscar Pistorius should not face “trial by media.”
Magistrate Daniel Thulare used the opportunity during that time to criticized the media, including those overseas, according to The Guardian. He said that they are threatening the “fountains of justice” and sanctity of South Africa’s courts.
“It would appear there is somewhat a trial by the media houses of Mr Pistorius,” Thulare said.
“It would appear some of the activities may amount, if not to scandalising the court system in the republic, then to contempt of court.”
The intense coverage of the case after the 26-year-old runner was charged with murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February caught the world by surprise. Since then, both local and international media have provided laser-like coverage on the case with rumors that large sums of money are offered by prominent publications for materials regarding the story.
