Pokemon X And Y Mega Evolution [VIDEO UPDATE]: Megastones, Stat Boosts, And The Master Tower

As Pokemon X and Y reveal the new Mega Evolution process, more updates are surfacing regarding the September CoroCoro as better scans come in with more translations.

The first thing to note that it has been confirmed not all Pokemon in Pokemon X and Y will have the Mega Evolution ability.

While how these Pokemon are chosen remains a mystery, the six confirmed Mega Evolution Pokemon are Blaziken, Lucario, Ampharos, Mawile, Mewtwo, and Absol.

Reportedly, how Mega Evolution will occur is through the use of a "Megastone," a global term used to define held items which activates Mega Evolution during battle. For example, the Megastone for Blaziken is "Blazikenite."

And according to Pokejungle, in addition to looking rather epic upon evolving, it seems the major advantage to Mega Evolution is stat boosts. For example, Lucario gets an Attack stat boost, while Absol gets both an Attack and Speed stat boost.

One thing to note about Pokemon X and Y is that a slew of Pokemon from previous generations have been rebranded with new types.

Ampharos, for example, is now Electric/Dragon dual-type, while Mawile is Steel/Fairy dual-type. While it is not surprising that a batch of Pokemon will be changed with the Fairy-type added, it seems X and Y will be switching up the Pokedex even further.

And, it seems Mega Evolution may be achieved in-game, but it will be also be distributed in some manner.

A "Speed Boost" Torchic will allegedly be distributed with its Megastone "Blazikenite" starting on the Pokemon X and Y release date (October 12) to January 15, 2014.

Lastly, a mysterious location called the Master Tower appears to have a connection to Mega Evolution, but not much is known beyond that.
