Jay Z is kicking off a new tour in support of his album Magna Carta Holy Grail in October, so Jay Z fans who missed the Legends of Summer tour have another chance.  Jay Z just released Magna Carta Holy Grail in July as an album app.   Jay-Z chose an interesting promotional strategy that backfired into a  Magna Carta Holy Grail album leak.  Hova's new album Magna Carta Holy  Grail was supposed to be released to Samsung customers via app on July 5  at midnight, three days earlier than general customers.  Magna Carta  Holy Grail release date for people without Samsung is July 8.

This strategy enabled Jay-Z to circumvent the usual album sales  tracking methods and ensured that the album will be considered platinum  before it is even on shelves.  Every Samsung Galaxy customer will get  the app, whether they want it or not, as Samsung purchased 1 million  units at $5 a piece.

Filesharers hacked the Magna Carta Holy Grail app and uploaded it to filesharings sites.

Jay Z has already done other interesting promotion for Magna Carta Holy Grail.  Jay Z Lip Sync to his song Picasso Baby made a performance art video.  The addition of a dance with performance artist Marina Abramovic, most famous from her recent Museum of Modern Art Show "The Artist is Present", brought the art world and the music world to a collision.

Jay-Z is part of a long line of other pop collaborations have changed the face of art.  Jay-Z associate Kanye, or Yeezus, is also well know for his collaborations across genres.  James Franco, the Spring Breakers star, published The Dangerous Book Four Boys art book and did performances with artist Laurel Nakadate.  Ai Weiwei, best known as the Chinese dissident who made millions of sunflower seeds, is recording a heavy metal album and performed Gangnam Style with Anish Kapoor.

Jay Z Picasso Baby lyrics are an interesting commentary on the art world:

I just want a Picasso, in my casa

No, my castle

I'm a hassa, no I'm an asshole

I'm never satisfied, can't knock my hustle

I wanna Rothko, no I wanna brothel

No, I want a wife that fuck me like a prostitute

Let's make love on a million, in a dirty hotel

With the fan on the ceiling, all for the love of drug dealing

Marble Floors, gold Ceilings

Oh what a feeling - fuck it I want a billion

Jeff Koons balloons, I just wanna blow up

Condos in my condos, I wanna row of

Christie's with my missy, live at the MoMA

Bacons and turkey bacons, smell the aroma
