A shark attacked an 11-year-old girl at WinterHaven Park in Ponce Inlet in Florida Sunday. The young girl was rushed to a nearby hospital after obtaining shark attack marks on her legs, which she described "very painful," and quite surprisingly doctors later on found a little shark tooth still embedded in her leg wounds, WKMG reported Wednesday.
The 11-year-old girl, who was later identified as Riley Breihan, was knee-boarding in knee-deep water when she felt something had bitten her lower legs, a NewsMax report stated.
"At first I wasn't thinking about pain, I was thinking I got bit by a shark and I have to go to the emergency room," the shark attack sixth grader victim told WKMG. "Then I felt the sting and it hurt real bad."
People, who witnessed the shark attack, immediately rushed to Breihan and put a towel around her bite wounds. They then carried her to a car and delivered her to the hospital nearby.
"They wrapped me up in their towel, they carried me and put me in the back of their jeep," Riley said.
At the hospital, doctors administered treatment on her leg wounds as well as the ones on her heels, and to their surprise, they found a shark tooth still embedded in the shark attack bite marks on the girl's leg.
"They had to numb me and they had to pick it out," the sixth grader said.
The Examiner reported that the 11-year-old girl was attacked twice by the shark: one on her heels and another on her lower legs.
Despite the tragic shark attack, Briehan admitted that she will be keeping the little shark tooth that was found in her wound as a memento for the incident. She also said that she is not planning to go back to the sea and go knee-boarding any time soon after the incident.
"I don't think I would go back in the water," Riley told WKMG. "I'm going to wait."
The shark attack in Florida is the second shark attack to have happened in Volusia County this 2013.
It can be noted that eight other shark attacks happened in 2012 and another six documented cases happened in 2011.
Another shark attack, which happened recently, involved a 20-year-old German woman who did after receiving serious injuries out of the attack.
Examiner stated that another shark attack left a Hawaiian victim dead after receiving seriously life-threatening wounds.
