Man of Steel 2 cast rumors continue to spread as fans of the franchise speculate who will play Lex Luthor and other characters in the film.  But while the movie-going public was not very delighted with the announcement that Ben Affleck would be playing the Caped Crusader in the sequel, the residents of Detroit, Michigan are excited with the news that the "Armageddon" star and Superman Henry Cavill will be filming the movie in their turf.

MyFOXDetroit.com has posted a statement issued by Margaret O'Riley, the director of the Michigan Film Office (MFO), saying "This project will further strengthen the reputation of Michigan and metro Detroit as a premier film destination."

Shooting will take place in Detroit and elsewhere in Michigan in the first quarter of 2014, and is expected to generate $131 million in revenue.  According to the MFO and reported by the Detroit Free Press, the project is likewise expected to pump up about $5.1 million in hotel income, use around 500 local vendors, and hire 406 Michigan workers.  It will also feature thousands of extras.

Zack Snyder, the director of the film, was also quoted saying, "Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie."

Aside from Affleck and Cavill, the yet untitled second Superman movie will see the return of Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Marth Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.  Man Of Steel 2 cast rumors say that Bryan Cranston might play Lex Luthor, but that has yet to be confirmed.

The first Man of Steel is the highest-grossing Superman film to date, having a total worldwide revenue of $649,798,851. 

Man of Steel 2 is expected to be released on July 17, 2015.
