Yuna Kim Takes On Lu Chen's Iconic Figure Skating Music With 'Adios Nonino': New Programs To Debut At Skate Canada

Reigning Olympic and world champion Yuna Kim has announced the music for her short program and free skate, and both immediately draw memories of iconic figure skaters.

For her short program, Yuna Kim will skate to "Send in the Clowns" from the musical "A Little Night Music" by Stephen Sondheim.

"('Send in the Clowns') is sung by a woman who misses her lover who left," says Kim according to NBC.

"At the first time I heard it, I wanted to perform with this song sometimes."

The last memorable performance using this music is from the 2010 Olympic Games by German pairs team Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy for their short program.

In addition, Yuna Kim will use "Adios Nonino" by Astor Piazzolla, choreographed by David Wilson.

"This is my last competition program as a player (skater), and I'm so happy that I chose the song that I've always wanted to do. I'll try my best to show as great performance as fans are expecting from me."

Kim Yuna is expected to make her program debut at Skate Canada this October.

"I have been planning on using this for my adult gold program, Jenny!" says Dave Lease of the popular skating program, The Skating Lesson.

"This music is all about the '98 Olympics, it's [Lu Chen's] comeback song...and it is a fantastic piece of music when used well."

"I think it's going to be her signature piece," continues former US competitive figure skater Jenny Kirk.

"She's at a point in her maturity as a woman and as a skater that she can do a tango, and she can do it well."
