Father of Prince Rahim, the Aga Khan, is a British national and the 49th hereditary Imam of Ismaili Shi'as.  He is regarded by his followers as a direct bloodline descendent of the prophet Mohamed, making Prince Rahim a descendent as well.

The family has a history of fashionable beauties, as Prince Rahim's grandfather was married to the legendary Hollywood actress Rita Hayworth, and his father was married to British model Sarah Croker-Poole.
