No one expected Sunmi's solo debut.

In a recent interview, former Wonder Girls member Sunmi, who recently debuted as a solo artist, said, "Park Jin Young repeatedly said to me, 'Don't pretend to be someone you're not. You won't ever be able to be sexier than what you already have. Don't try to force a sexy pose.' I feel the same way. More than the choreography, I had trouble with the singing. I was trying to make my voice sound sexy but I just couldn't get in the mood. The PD turned off the lights in the recording room and told me to try to turn up my emotions. I remember thinking to myself, 'I'm going crazy...'"

No one expected Sunmi to debut as a solo artist. More than that, no one expected to go through such a drastic transformation. When Sunmi performs onstage, there's no sign of Wonder Girls anymore. Everything from her hand movements to breathing is different than her Wonder Girls days. She has a sexy voice and performs intense dance moves onstage. Her intense gaze is even wilder than her pink hair, and she seems much more spirited.

When Sunmi first announced her comeback, there was a lot of speculation as to whether or not she would be a "Park Jin Young persona." JYP Entertainment's Park Jin Young thoroughly planned every aspect of Sunmi's comeback, from the song, dance choreography, music video, and stage attire.

In her new song "24 Hours," Sunmi doesn't try to force her sexiness. Instead, the concept is a woman who's just opened her eyes to love (and sex), and is excited and emotional. The best part of the song is her stage performance. Instead of only trying to be sexy or perform dance moves that are easy to follow for fans, she takes the song lyrics and expresses them with the use of her body. Although she's sexy, there's a certain innocent and pure image about her.

JYP's Park Jin Young's greatest strength is drawing a musician's charm from within the artist. As an artist himself, he can draw out a singer's voice and song, and as a producer he can draw out an artist's strengths. He truly is a gem that can help artists focus on their strengths and use it to their advantage.
