Android Apps Free Download: New Roku Update Enables Video Playback From Your Phone To Your Roku Player

If you have been using the Roku player for some time now and you think it lacks one important feature, then this update would certainly be good news for you.

Following the update for Roku's app on iOS a month ago, it is now time for the Play Store to get its updated version.

In this latest update, 2.3.0.2083614, the Roku app will be able to play any videos stored on the user's phone. However, there are just a few chosen models which can get this feature.

Included in the changelog is the support for recent Android smartphones such as Samsung's Galaxy S3 and S4, Nexus 4, HTC One, and the Nexus 7 (2012).

In order to successfully play videos from your phone to the Roku player, the phone should be at least equipped with Android 4.0.

Similar to iOS, your Android device should first be paired with a Roku player which runs at least software version 5.1. Still, a Wi-Fi router that supports 802.11N would be the ideal choice for connectivity.
