The mysterious Miss Uzbekistan isn’t who she seems. Just who is Rakhima Ganieva who is entered in the Miss World 2013 contest?
Miss Uzbekistan is the first contestant from her country to participate in the Miss World contest. The problem is, the country never held a Miss Uzbekistan pageant.

Miss Uzbekistan 2013 seems like a perfect Miss World contestant. She is going to go to college. Miss Uzbekistan said in her Miss World introduction, "When I have some free time," she writes in her Miss World introduction, "I like to read a good book … My favorite writers are Chekhov, Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy."
Miss Uzbekistan 2013 is talented, she plays the piano and loves tennis.
Miss Uzbekistan 2013, Rakhima Ganieva, is from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, but the country has no idea who she is. Uzbekistan officials deny entering her in the Miss World 2013 pageant.
The national committee on women and the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry both say they have no information on Miss Uzbekistan, according to the news agency that covers Central Asia and the Caucuses, EurasiaNet. Uzbekistan officials say they never even had a Miss Uzbekistan contest.

According to the Miss World Website, Rakhima Ganieva was crowned Miss Uzbekistan on July 20. There is very little go on besides blogs about beauty pageants. There is no footage available of of a Miss Uzbekistan pageant.
When she was fifteen, Rakhima Ganieva was represented for a short period by the Tashkent, Uzbekistan modeling agency Pro Models. A Pro Models spokesperson told EurasiaNet, "Rakhima Ganieva never passed through any special selection process in Uzbekistan. If there had been a process to choose a young lady for this competition, I can assure you that a much more beautiful model would have been chosen. I'm sorry that Ganieva is choosing to build a career on lies."
Rakhima Ganieva's official Facebook page doesn’t mention the controversy. Miss Uzbekistan’s Facebook page only features casual photos and best wishes.
The daughter of longtime Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov, Gulnara Karimova, implied that Rakhima Ganieva might not even be from Uzbekistan. She tweeted that Ganieva was a "Tajik-looking girl" who "came out of nowhere." A 2010 WikiLeaks cable called Gulnara Karimova a “robber baron” who is the “most hated” person in Uzbekistan.
According to the Guardian, corruption runs is prevalent in Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan President Islam Karimov is an authoritarian leader whose government has been linked to organized crime.
Rakhima Ganieva might return from to a world of horror.
Neither Rakhima Ganieva nor Miss World officials could be reached for comment.
The Miss World 's grand finale is on September 28.
