Miss America Contestants Pump Up The Boardwalk In the Annual Shoe Parade (Video)

Miss America 2013 contestants put their best feet forward in the first annual "Show us Your Shoes Parade” on the Boardwalk. Miss America 2013 contestants showed off their pumps, stilettos and cowboy boots during the Boardwalk parade on September 14, 2013.

The Miss America Pageant 2013 parade replaces the traditional parade which was a less stompin’ event. Miss America 2014 will be crowned at Boardwalk Hall late today in a nationally televised broadcast.

Miss America 2013 contestants restarted Boardwalk tradition when the fifty-three Miss America 2013 competitors paraded down the Atlantic City boardwalk last night to the chant "show us your shoes!"

Miss America 2013 "Show us Your Shoes Parade” goes back to 1972 when contestants show the audience their shoes as they walked home after pageant rehearsals. Miss America contests took a step back because they were coddling their overtired feet in slippers.

John Best, the executive producer of the Miss America 2013 "Show us Your Shoes Parade” said "The next year the girls got smart. They started designing shoes and it caught on. They're the ones who created (the event). This didn't come from anywhere else, this didn't come from any other city.''

Miss America 2013’s Miss Florida wore alligator shoes. Miss Indiana sported basketballs and hoops. Miss New Jersey’s feet were adorned with sea shells. Miss Arizona stepped through cactus shoes.

Miss Oklahoma strutted out in black and red cowboy boots.

This year the Miss America 2013 returned to Atlantic City after six years in Las Vegas.

Miss America 2013 "Show us Your Shoes Parade” stepped almost two miles down the Atlantic City boardwalk and featured 14 marching bands, 49 dancing groups, 14 floats and 16 choirs.
