Ewan McGregor In Star Wars 7 As Obi-Wan Kenobi: ‘I'd Be Up For It,’ He Says But Admits JJ Abrams Has Not Asked Him To Join The Cast

Ewan McGregor would be more than happy to join Star Wars 7 and reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, but has not yet been asked by director J.J. Abrams to join the cast of the newest installment in the franchise, Star Wars Episode 7.

"They haven't phoned me yet," Ewan McGregor told E! News at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of his new ensemble drama, "August: Osage County."

But Ewan McGregor said if they do call him about Star Wars, then he would "be up for it."

The 41-year-old Scottish actor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel series, Entertainmentwise.com reports.

McGregor has previously expressed interest in reprising his iconic role in Star Wars Episode 7, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2015, the website reports.

Director JJ Abrams is helming the reboot of the sci-fi franchise. Filming is due to start in London and L.A. next year.

Latino Review, a site known for breaking casting exclusives, recently claimed McGregor will return as Obi-Wan's "Force Ghost," with talks also allegedly occurring about Ewan starring in his own solo movie centered around the Jedi Knight, Entertainmentwise.com reports.

The site claims they have three sources who have "confirmed" that McGregor will be back to play the role, despite official news from Abrams, who have stated that the scripts are still being developed.

According to Scified.com, it is also expected that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will all reprise their roles as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia in the newest installment of the Star Wars series.
