Kpop and kpop alone may eliminate the Korean trade deficit. Last year Korea earned $794 million USD from entertainment services which was up 25% from $637 million in 2010.  These statistics have been tallied since 1980 and 2011 was surely the most profitable year.

Up until 1996, the country earned $0. In 1997 the Korean entertainment industry pulled in $5 million. Sure Korea still faces a deficit, but that's shrinking rapidly. Last year the amount was $324 million and now that number is down to $224 million.
