‘Glee’ Season 5 Spoilers: What To Expect From Cory Monteith’s Farewell Episode PLUS The Tribute Songs That Will Be Rendered By The Cast

As opposed to its usual festive mood, the set of 'Glee' was somber during its filming of the episode that would serve as a tribute to Cory Monteith and his character, Finn Hudson.

Kevin McHale, one of the stars of the famed series, revealed how difficult it was to do the "extremely emotional" episode: "There are so many incredibly well written and powerful scenes."

The episode will be titled "The Quarterback" which also describes the position of Hudson in the McKinley High Football team. At the very end of the episode, Monteith's on-screen and real-life girlfriend Lea Michele will render a farewell song. If in real life Michele always wears a necklace engraved with "Cory", she will wear the same necklace in the episode though it will bear the name "Finn".

The Canadian actor passed away two months ago at the age of 31 because of drug and alcohol overdose. For this reason, producers have agreed to include a public service announcement (PSA) about alcohol and substance abuse.

McHale added that the characters would have different reactions to Hudson's death. Some characters would be in denial about the death which did not happen in real life: "Some people aren't dealing with the loss of Finn, and it's a difficult thing because in real life none of us were like that. We were all very much dealing with it."

Characters who have been recently absent from the show will likewise return to have parts in the farewell tribute. Romy Rosemont who plays Hudson's mother, Carole, will return to say goodbye to her on-screen son. Another returnee will be Dot Marie-Jones who plays Coach Beiste. Diana Agron who plays Quinn Fabray will reportedly not join the tribute episode.

McHale's last revelation is about one powerful scene that stood out from the script: "When [the cast] got the script, we were all reading it together and we were like, 'Did you get to that one scene?' And when you see it everyone will know what that one scene is."

Some of the songs that are reportedly included in the episode are 'Fire and Rain', Rent's 'Season of Love', 'If I Die Young', 'I'll Stand By You' as well as a couple of throwback songs that were once rendered by Monteith. The last song which Michele will sing is not yet revealed.

The fifth season of 'Glee' will air its premiere episode on September 26 while the memorial tribute for Monteith will be shown on October 10.
