With legendary rapper Big Daddy Kane backing DJ Mister Cee despite his gay scandal, has the hip-hop industry reached a new day?




The Grammy-winning Brooklyn MC told Vibe that the gay scandal would not prevent him from having Cee's back since they've been cool for years.




"I support Cee. He is somebody I met in high school and I got down with his rap crew. Cee has always supported me," said Kane. "And I’ve always supported him and that’s not going to change because of today. What he said on-air was real. I support the brother and I’m going to always be his friend."




Following resigning from Hot 97, Mister Cee returned to the radio station as a DJ an also confessed to having sex with transsexuals. This is coming after Internet personality/drag queen Bimbo Winehouse outed an encounter with the DJ and years of allegations that he has solicited male prostitutes.













Even though Mister Cee opened up about his sexuality, Kane isn't sure if it will be a first step toward the end of homophobia in the hip-hop industry.




"I don’t know. But I’m glad he [came out with the truth] because that’s the only way you can be at peace with yourself. Hopefully Cee is at peace and he don’t have to worry about what people think about his persona or his personal life. He can just get on the turntables and do what he’s been doing which is entertaining the people," said Kane.




While revealing his sexuality on Hot 97, Mister Cee did admit to being weary about how the hip-hop community would perceive him.




"The decision I've made this week to open up about my sexuality has definitely been the most difficult thing that I've ever had to do in my life," Mister Cee said. "But I felt like this was the time to do it personally and professionally. For me, I felt worried about how my family would be affected, how my coworkers, my friends, and even my fans would be affected by this decision, because in this hip hop community of ours, it's not cool to be gay. It's not cool to be bisexual."
