Brown Eyed Girls Gain ‘The Agency Told Us to Gain Weight’

Brown Eyed Girls' youngest member Gain complained about the agency's image management.

On the September 16 episode of tvN's "Talk Show Scene Taxi," the members of Brown Eyed Girls appeared as guests on the show. Gain said, "Our agency prevented us from following the trends."

According to Brown Eyed Girls, they debuted not because of their looks, but because of their singing skills, with the concept of being "little Big Mamas." Gain said, "They didn't let us follow the trends. In fact, they tried to get us to gain weight. That's because our powerful voices were getting weaker. They had actually given up on our looks."

Gain continued, "After that, we started to go down the wrong path. I even went to a place that resembled a temple and cried. I really hated it." JeA agreed and said, "We were the same way. I think everyone got really sensitive when our album didn't do well. We tried to keep everything in."

That's when Gain started to devote more attention to her image. She said, "We went to Dongdaemun to purchase our own stage attire. We just really didn't like the ones our agency provided. We even started to do our own make up. That's when our new look started to develop."
