Park JaeBum Interview "My Music Has Zero Appeal to Popularity?"

Park JaeBum, also known as Jay Park, is following his footsteps of his dream. Ex-member of the idol group 2PM, it's already been 3 years since he began solo. Aside from being a singer, he matured into a song writer, and producer in the music industry. After a long time of preparation, he has become a strong solo artist.

Fans have never been more supportive and as a result of working with his musical partners, he got a chance to demonstrate his abilities as a musical genius. Once portrayed only as a dancer with big muscles is now a respected producer.

On his left arm, there is a unique tattoo. Even though he is from Seattle, he has a tattoo of the Korean flag as well as his family, friend, and also music. That's not all, he shows his passion for b-boying and singing with images of shoes and a mic tattooed.

Beginning of Interview-

Interviewer: "It's the first time after your solo debut that you're releasing an official full album. There must be a meaning behind it."

Jay Park: "I prepared a lot for 2 years. I wrote over 30 songs and I chose the best ones out of those for my album. My fans tell me my music doesn't have any appeal to popularity so I took what they said into consideration and thought about it. But I'm usually not the type to do what I planned. I wanted to have a strategy but somehow I ended up doing music my way, the way I want it to be. This is my first time I'm releasing an official album so it's special to me. I want to work hard and keep busy and make my music heard."

Interviewer: "Your new album was number 1 on the R&B chart on iTunes."

Jay Park: It's amazing. I guess my music is more familiar to people in the U.S. It's more pop, as opposed to the normal k-pop. I keep in touch with my fans through youtube, twitter and facebook and it seems like I have more fans in other countries than I do in Korea.

Interviewer: "How was working with the famous producer Rob Knox, who has worked with Justin Timberlake?"

Jay Park: "I initially met him through an audition program and he told me he was a fan of mine. He worked on my song happily for free. (Laughs) We had a similar style of approaching music so I liked it. Rather than thinking about producing a hit song, the important thing is doing the music that I want to do.

Interviewer: "In this new album, the b-boy group from the U.S., Art of Movement Crew, whom you have included in one of your songs. What is AOM to you?"

Jay Park: "I met AOM when I was 16 through b-boying. We went to battles together and tried to follow our dreams together. In my upcoming concert, we are preparing a special show. I want to show my fans our performance."

Interviewer: "In March, you have your very own concert. Tell us about it"

Jay Park: On March 3rd, I'll have my own first concert at the Olympic Hall. There will be a variety of special shows for my fans and there will also be a special performance by AOM.
