2AM Singer Jinwoon Sends First Message To Fans After Being Injured In Car Accident On Sunday: 'I'll Greet You All In A Healthy State As Soon As I Can'

Jeong Jinwoon of the four-member K-pop group 2AM made his first public statement on Friday, since the Oct. 6 car accident that resulted in the singer, his manager and another member of his staff being injured.

The accident, which happened near the city of in a tunnel near the South Korean city of Mungyeong when the Jinwoon's vehicle collided with a 25-ton truck in a tunnel, left the star with a 4-inch cut and a fractured ankle that required surgery, according to the Korea Star Daily.

The 2AM singer was on his way home from a performance in Seoul.

"I have decided to write this because I'm afraid that some fans will still be worried about me," Jinwoon wrote in a message to his online fan club.

"First, I would like to apologize for making everyone worry because of the accident. The accident was more severe than imagined, and I together with others who were in the car when it happened, are now receiving treatment."

The day after the accident, Jinwoon received surgery for his ankle, which went well, according to a statement on Tuesday from 2AM's record label Big Hit Entertainment.

"After safely completing surgery [Jinwoon] is recovering back to stability," a spokesperson for the label told the website allkpop. Because we have to see his progress, the date of his release from the hospital has not been decided yet."

"He is fine enough to send texts on his phone. Although he received treatment for his [ankle] fracture at the hospital, he has yet to receive treatment for his laceration, so we are watching him closely. Although it is difficult for him to carry out his set schedule, he will likely be fully recovered by December just in time for 2AM's concert."

On Wednesday a rep from Big Hit Entertainment told the South Korean news program "One Night of TV Entertainment" that the incident has left Jinwoon shaken up.

"Because the accident was so bad, he's received trauma mentally," the rep said. "Jinwoon was unable to exit the vehicle because it was scrapped."

In his post to fans on Friday, the 2AM singer did his best to reassure fans he is okay.

"Thank you for praying for us. For those who were worried, I wanted to allay your fears by relating my current situation as soon as possible," Jinwoon wrote.

"I will work hard to recuperate and return to performing on stage for everyone. While feeling apologetic, I also want to thank you all. Please show your support for the three of us as we recover from our injuries."
