Top Android Phones 2013: In 2 Minutes, Xiaomi Sells 100K HongMi Phones, Offers Quadcore CPU And 4.7" Display At Only $130

Earlier this year, Xiaomi made headlines as it acquired long-time Google executive Hugo Barra to become one of its Vice Presidents. And in just a matter of months, it seems the move has been beneficial for the Chinese manufacturer. The company's HongMi, one of the top Android phones in 2013, reportedly sold 100,000 units in two minutes.

In a Weibo post by Xiaomi, it claimed that upon availability, its HongMi smartphone notched the 100,000 mark in just two minutes and five seconds. This is certainly achievable considering Apple has been doing it for years with its iPhones, but for a startup company to be shipping that sheer number of units in a small amount of time - that is indeed an accomplishment.

HongMi is one of the most aggressively-priced smartphones in the Chinese market today at only 799 Yuan or about $131. Packing a 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution, 1.5Ghz quadcore processor, 1GB of RAM, and a microSD slot, this phone is certainly a must-buy for consumers who are on a low budget.

In addition, the HongMi also has an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3MP front shooter, and it comes with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

With Xiaomi's recent success in the Chinese smartphone industry, we would not be suprised if it jumps to the international market next year.
