Beatles' BBC Sessions Coming 11/11; Another CD’s Worth of Songs and Interviews

More Beatles BBC sessions will see the light of day as the most influential band of all time announces they will be releasing a new compilation of BBC performances on November 11th

The Beatles performed fifty-one shows that were aired on BBC Radio between 1962 and 1965. The Beatles BBC sessions have been popular with bootleg collectors for years. The Beatles released a collection of BBC performances at the end of the 90s. Beatles fans found that Capitol Records 1994 release “The Beatles Live at the BBC” barely scratched the surface of the recordings the Beatles made for the BBC between March 1962 and June 1965.

The Beatles BBC sessions, which are the closest thing Beatle fans get to "new" music, will see another big release. The Beatles will put out the follow-up to the 1994 album “The Beatles Live at The BBC” on Nov. 11.

The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will compile 63 tracks that were broadcast during the Beatles BBC session between 1963 and 1964. According to the Beatles press release, none of the songs will overlaps with the 1994 Beatles BBC sessions compilation. The Beatles were recorded performing include 37 songs that have not been released commercially before. The Beatles BBC Sessions will also include 23 unreleased recordings of in-studio chatter between BBC hosts and Beatles John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

Talking about The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2,” Paul McCartney said “There’s a lot of energy and spirit. We are going for it, not holding back at all, trying to put in the best performance of our lifetimes."

The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will be released on Capitol Records. The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will attempt to fill in the cracks left by the first Beatles BBC sessions collection. The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will feature 23 dialogue tracks which are interviews, intros and studio banter and 40 songs.

The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will include some of their biggest early hits like "She Loves You," "Please Please Me" and "I Want to Hold Your Hand," "And I Love Her" and "This Boy" along with such rarities as The Beatles versions of Stephen Foster's "Beautiful Dreamer," "Happy Birthday," which was recorded to celebrate the anniversary of Saturday Club, Paul McCartney “Oohing” Little Richard's "Lucille" and John Lennon rasping through Chuck Berry's "I'm Talking About You" which was previously only available on the Hamburg Tapes. The Beatles also cover Carl Perkins’ “Lend Me Your Comb,” and different takes of “I Got A Woman,” “Sure To Fall” and “Hippy Hippy Shake.”

The Beatles BBC session songs will also be sold digitally through iTunes. The Beatles have had a partnership with Apple since 2009. The Beatles were one of the few holdouts from Apple. The Beatles had their own computer company called Apple Electronics before Steve Jobs formed his company. For a long time, The Beatles held their music back from Apple because Apple was supposed to stay away from music offerings after they appropriated the Apple Electronics name.

The last time The Beatles put out “new" music was in 2006 when they remixed their songs for an album called “Love,” which The Beatles created for a Cirque du Soleil show.

The Beatles’ “On Air – Live at the BBC Volume 2” will be released on November 11. It will include 63 tracks on two discs.

Capital Records will also release a re-mastered version of the 1994 set will be released at the same time.

The 88 songs that the Beatles performed on the BBC capture the group’s concert without the hysterical shrieking that marred professionally recorded Beatles concert tapes.
