Let's face it there were countries who haven't won this most coveted beauty title, and there are countries who boasts to have snagged the crown more than once, and even on consecutive streaks. Amongst Asian countries India have bagged the title more than once and Philippines comes in at a close second - though most of the time they only end up as runners-up. Latin countries are not to be taken lightly as well. The contenders and pagent favorites from the South Americas are namely (in no particular order) Mexico, Puert Rico, Colombia, and Venezuela. Africa is not far behind when it comes to snagging the title, countries who bagged the title in the past or almost came close to bringhing it home were Angola, Aruba and Botswana.

Unfortunately Latinas or rather Latin countries appear to have been made an unfortunate reference (made in poor if not bad taste) by the Philippine's representative Ariella Arida during one of her interview. She was quoted to have said, "... Latinas can't even complete a sentence ... in English..," in defense of her being criticised by detractors of not being able to speak fluently in English herself. (Read the entire report of her statement here) She chose not to have a translator during the Q&A segment shjould she reach that far on the pageant.
The Miss Universe 2013 beauty pageant will be held at Crocus City Hall in Moscow Russia on Nov. 9, 2013. Current title holder Olivia Culpo will turn-over her the crown.
