Cee Lo Green Going To Prison For Four Years? Charged With Giving Drug Ecstasy To Woman, But Cleared Of Sexual Assault Charge

Cee Lo Green could face up to four years in prison, after being charged with giving a woman the drug ecstasy, People magazine reports.

Cee Lo Green pleaded not guilty on Monday to giving a woman ecstasy at a Los Angeles restaurant during a 2012 dinner, Entertainment Weekly reports.

But Cee Lo Green, 39, won't be charged with sexual assault, the Los Angeles district attorney's office said Monday, CNN reports. He was originally accused of rape of an intoxicated person, People magazine reports. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence for why they declined to file the sexual assault charge on "The Voice" mentor.

Green "allegedly slipped ecstasy to a 33-year-old female while the two were dining at a downtown Los Angeles restaurant sometime between July 13 and July 14, 2012," according to a statement from the prosecutor. "The two later went back to the woman's hotel."

Green, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, could be sentenced to up to four years in prison if found guilty of the one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance, the statement said, CNN reports.

Green's attorney Blair Berk wrote in a statement that Cee Lo was pleased that the rape charge was rejected. She added that any sexual contact between her client and the woman was consensual, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Green appeared briefly in court Monday afternoon, The Los Angeles Times reports. He wore all black with metal-rimmed glasses for his arraignment on the drug charge, and according to Entertainment Weekly, he sat in a front row of the courtroom with his girlfriend while waiting for a bondsman to post his $30,000 bail.

Green's case is due back in court in November.
