Danvers teacher Colleen Ritzer Murder Two Days After Mike Landberry Death In Nevada School Shootout Triggers Debate On Violence In American High Schools

The murder of Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer, two days after the death of another educator Mike Landberry in Nevada School shootout, has sparked debate surrounding safety and violence in American High Schools.

The dead body Colleen Rizer, 24 year old high school math teacher was found behind the school on Tuesday morning. The police had been alerted late Tuesday night at 11.20 PM after Ritzer did not return from school.

The suspect in the murder cases is a 14 year old student who was also reported missing the same night. Police located the juvenile early Wednesday morning on Route 1 and took him into custody. The identity of the accused and his parents has been disclosed on ethical grounds.

Meanwhile, all the public schools in Danvers remain close on Wednesday. A computer generated call intimated the parents and students about the sudden holiday and the reason behind it.

Earlier this week on Monday, October 21, 2013 Mike Landberry, a math teacher at Sparks Middle School in Nevada was shot dead by a 12 year old student who opened fire on his batch mates. Two students were also wounded.

The gun bearing student killed himself after shooting the Mike Landberry, a former Marine who had served in Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Parents and students are aghast at the incident and have expressed concern regarding the growing incidence of violence in high schools that jeopardizes the life of students as well as teachers. Concerns and condolences poured over Twitter whole day.

Meanwhile, Colleen Ritzer's family has requested privacy in the matter even as the media is flooded with reports and speculations over the probable reason why she was murdered and what punishment will be meted out to the accused juvenile.
