Captain America 2 - The Winter Soldier Trailer: Star Spangled Hero Takes On A Full Scale Reboot

Captain America 2 film is probably facing the biggest challenge among the existing Marvel franchise. Captain America: The First Avenger got the lowest grossing Marvel Studios production, bagging only $370 million, past the Incredible Hulk with $260 million.

Two and a half years following the first Captain America film, it merely has the same following of Thor and Iron Man. Although Chris Evans may have been a great Steve Rogers, he is far from having intense fan base compared to Chris Hemsworth or Tom Hiddleston.

Furthermore, Captain America seemed to have lost his character significance in “The Avengers” movie, he was left playing a supporting player next to Thor and Tony Stark in the big team-up quest.

However, Disney and Marvel did a good job in making Captain America’s first film the greatest of the pre-Avengers films.

Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier Trailer has been recently released and judging from the preview, it seems that our star spangled hero had some full scale reboot. Moreover, as described by Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige the movie’s theme is a “political thriller.”

To begin with, the trailer showcased some of the main characters from the movie featuring Captain America (of course!), Nick Fury, Black Widow and cool new characters such as Alexander Pierce (new S.H.I.E.L.D leader) played by non-other than Robert Redford, Falcon and the villain Winter Soldier.

Steve Rogers seems to be having some trust issues, a snippet from the trailer shows that he was questioning S.H.I.E.L.D director Nick Fury as the secretive organization he is working for may have been torn apart from the inside.

Rogers is seen having a fight with his own people in the infamous elevator sequence, the trailer also showed a Quinjet attacking both Rogers and Falcon and the most notable of all, a scene where the S.H.I.E.L.D Helicarrier from The Avengers crashed and burned.

The official synopsis from the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier:

After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
