IPad Art Apps Used By Artist David Hockney To Create Sophisticated Art Works Using The Tablet As His Canvass [See His Craft]

A British artist uses iPad art apps to make stunning paintings for his exhibit. David Hockney opened his exhibit last Saturday in de Yound Museum in Golden State Park. His exhibit boasts 150 beautiful paintings created on his iPad.

This exhibit was recorded the largest in that museum ever, filling up two floors from his works dated from 1999. His works created with charcoal, watercolor, video and his iPad paintings are displayed. The highlight of the exhibit was a view of the Yosemite National Park that stood 12-feet hight.

Hockney said that he prefers to use a tablet as his canvass and his index finger as his paintbrush because it can be done quicker without editing whatsoever.

"It's much more interesting than Photoshop because it can pick up a color quicker and you can work very fast. Working fast is something most draftsmen are interested in," the artist said.

Hockney expresses that fusing technology with art amazed him the moment he printed his digital images a few years ago.

"It's a very new medium. I was pretty amazed by them actually," he said while smiling. "I'm still amazed."

Oxford Times reported another artist that uses iPads to create his work of art. Artist Martin Beek who lives in Oxford uses his tablet to make bright landscape works.

"The great thing about it is that sometimes I will go out prepared to do an oil painting and I will have my easel ready, but because of the weather or conditions I can't go and sit in the field and paint.

"So instead I can sit in my car and paint the landscape in much less time than I would be able to if I was doing an oil painting, which can take up to seven hours."
