Oscar Pistorius Case Update: American Forensic Experts Not The Only Ones Helping Olympian’s Case, Apple Technicians Made Available To Assist In ‘Blade Runner’ Trial

Oscar Pistorius case update came earlier this month when the Associated Press reported that the athlete is working with a team of American forensic specialist to help prepare for the double-amputee athlete’s defense.

According to the AP, the goal is to counter the evidence given by the team of 50 police officers and criminal experts that prosecutors could call on at his murder trial, which begins next March. But the forensic experts aren’t the only American entity involved in the trial of the athlete known as “Blade Runner.”

In a report by SA Breaking News last June, prior to his August 19 court date appearance where the trial has been given a date, U.S. tech giant Apple was called on to help on the case.

SA Breaking News noted that Oscar Pistorius has forgotten the code needed to unlock a cellphone he was using on the night he killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. South African police was said to be seeking help from Apple in America to try and gain access to an iPhone 5. The device was found on the floor of the bathroom where the model was shot dead by his Olympian boyfriend.

“These could be crucial and Apple executives in America have made their technicians available to help us,” said Lt. Gen. Vineshkumar Moonoo, the person leading the investigation.

The iPhone along with three others was found on the bathroom floor of Oscar’s Pretoria home early on February 14 after Pistorius had shot and killed his supermodel girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

Moono added that the mobile phones “were clearly in use up to the time of the killing.”

The position of the iPhones and the other two devices, which was said to be two Blackberries, all of which were found close to the shower cubicle could show that the couple had a furious row during which Reeva had locked herself in.
