There have always been criticisms of HyunA sexiness. It is there like a background noise when she performs as a member of 4Minute. It continues when she performs as a solo act. It is still a lingering criticism this time with HyunA 's second stint as the project group 'Trouble Maker' with BEAST's Jang Hyun Seung. The main criticism against HyunA is that she's a one-dimensional character - that sexiness is the only real charm that she's got.

Trouble Maker, a project group that debuted in 2011 with the single "Trouble Maker", was an instant hit. Their sexy performance also drew much attention.

Their second mini-album, Chemistry, was released on October 28th. The single, "Now" has been on the top spot since release, and their music video's view count is rapidly increasing. There certainly is a lot of attention on them.

Troublemaker decided to redo the sexy concept. They decided that if they would become even sexier. Their music video is rated "Forbidden Under 19", which means that no teenager will be allowed to watch the video. The sex scenes and sexy kiss scenes that titillate the viewers just further rectify the direction that they are taking with their album concept.

Although the attention is there, some of it is concern and criticism of branding a star with a single dimensional charm. HyunA has always been portrayed as 'sexy', even when she is trying to be cute or carry out a different concept.

HyunA 's entertainment company issued a statement on the issue, saying, "We expected the backlash when we decided to go even sexier with Troublemaker's concept. However, we believe that 'sexy' as a concept in itself can be multi-dimensional. For that reason, we ask her fans to watch even her 'sexiness' concept mature."

They added, "Our society really looks down on girl groups that try to portray sexy. When guy groups take their clothes off, it's portrayed as manly. Why is it that when girls take off their clothes they're portrayed as being lewd? We also want to ask our fans to look on HyunA and other girl groups without such prejudice."
