K-Pop's Landmark in Paris

K-Pop once again has swept through Paris. The dazzling performance by 8 popular teams of K-Pop stars for 'Music Bank in Paris. It hasn't even been a year since the last concert in May, which French fans held protests and flash mobs to extend the SM Town Concert.

6,000 tickets were sold out for the first day of last year's concert at Le Zenith de Paris. This time around the concert was held in the largest indoor venue Bercy Stadium, which can hold up to 17,000 people. Local media reported there were over 8,000 attendees.

It was interesting to see that so many local mainstream media were present to cover the event more so than from last year. Ingeniously a week prior to the performance, France's largest private TV broadcast station, FT1 covered K-Pop phenomenon for 10 minutes on Sunday evening at 7pm. It contained French fans interview of those have visited Korea because of K-Pop.

Girls' Generation also made an appearance on no. 1 talk show 'Le Grand Journal' performing their single 'The Boys.' It seems that the French media is establishing an opportunity for K-Pop to enter in the mainstream culture.

It's interesting to see how Korean K-Pop will continue their upward spiral trend.
