NCIS Season 11 Spoilers: “Gossip Girl” Actress Emily Wickersham’s “Ellie Bishop” Will Permanently Replace Cote de Pablo’s “Ziva David”

Looks like NCIS Season 11 fans will be seeing "Gossip Girl" actress Emily Wickersham for good, as executive producer Gary Glasberg confirmed that Ellie Bishop will be a regular on the show.

A press release issued by CBS.com announced that NSA Analyst Eleanor "Ellie" Bishop will be a staple in the series and will make her debut on the November 19 episode.

Emily was originally hired to appear for multiple episodes of NCIS to replace actress Cot de Pablo's Ziva David character after the latter's announcement of exiting the series for good, but apparently the makers of the show decided to promote her as a regular in the show.

"Emily Wickersham's Ellie Bishop is proving to perfectly compliment the NCIS team," as told by Executive Producer Gary Glasberg, during the press release. "Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious. Great things are planned for Bishop and we couldn't be more thrilled to have her on board."

Ellie Bishop's character is described as someone "bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward. She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She's traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home," according to Huffington Post.

Moreover Executive producer Gary Glasberg thought of Emily Wickersham's character as:

"What drew me to Bishop is how she views the world. She looks at things in a global way - and that's true of personal lives as well as the work," Glasberg said. "She will shed some light on everybody, on who our people are, as well on the way that politics and terrorism and crimes are handled. She possesses an interesting mind, an intellectual, smart way to approach doing what this team does - not with kicks and punches and knocking down doors but by really thinking. She's very much a thinker."

Wickersham is known for playing the role of Rhiannon, A.J.'s girlfriend, in the final season of "The Sopranos" she currently has a recurring role on "The Bridge," and known also for the hit series "Gossip Girl."
