The Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) are just ten days away and to spur K-Pop fans to vote, Mnet published the current results of the online vote.  As of November 12^th, over six million votes have been cast in the eight award categories. As the voting process was simplified for international K-Pop fans,  with the inclusion of using Facebook and Twitter screen names for registration, the results for 2013 MAMA will definitely reflect the selections of a worldwide audience. While there are very few surprises in the way in which the votes are being cast, what is most interesting is the lead which Shinhwa currently holds against SM Entertainment's EXO.

In the Best Male Group and Artist of the Yearcategories, EXO is losing by a large margin to their sunbaes in Shinhwa. In the Artist of the Year category, Shinhwa currently is leading with 32.2 percent of the vote. EXO is in second place but with the wide margin of 19.2 percent of the vote. The disparity between votes is similar in the Best Male Group category. Shinhwa currently maintains 38.2 percent of the vote, while EXO falls behind with 25.6 percent of the vote.

Big Bang's leader G-Dragon is keeping up the momentum built by his wildly popular solo release, Coup D'Etat by leading in three of the categories in which he is nominated. The category in which he has the lowest margin separating him from the win is in Best Dance Performance-Male Solo, which pits him against Big Bang's maknae, Seungri. Fans of the group are obviously voting for their bias, giving G-Dragon 35.6 percent of the popular vote, with Seungri coming in at 31.3 percent. In the Best Male Artist category, G-Dragon is currently maintaining a huge lead on Lee Seung Gi. G-Dragon has 48.9 percent of the popular vote, while Seung Gi trails at a distant second with 27.4 percent. G-Dragon also currently maintains the lead in votes for the Nissan Juke Best Music Video Category.

2013 MAMA will hold significance for Big Bang, as it will be one of the first times in months that the group will unite together to perform on stage. As all of the members will have released their solo projects prior to MAMA, this comeback stage will definitely be one to watch. Award season may humbling for EXO, as they face up against their seniors who have long established and organized fan bases.

Voting for 2013 MAMA will continue until November 21^st. Since Mnet made the process much easier for K-Pop fans worldwide, all fans should participate to make their opinion known. 2013 MAMA will be held on November 22^nd at Hong Kong's Asia World Expo.
