NBA Trade Rumors: Omer Asik – Paul Millsap Is Best Case Scenario For Rockets; Will Hawks Bite? Both Sides Asking For Draft Picks

After the publicized trade request (it sounds more of a demand) by Omer Asik, the Houston Rockets have been peppered with trade speculation scenarios.

Whether they are actual requests or even phone calls made, we are not sure, but the Wizards have already admitted that they offered Emeka Okafor for Asik, since they anticipated that Asik would want to bolt. Okafor is the 2nd overall draft pick of 2004 behind Dwight Howard himself. They would've been reunited in Houston but the Rockets said "No."

Okafor is injury prone and his value is more of being an expiring contract. The Rockets need something they can use now, a stretch forward in the mold of Ryan Anderson, who used to thrive with Dwight Howard. However, the New Orleans Hornets have also said they will not trade Anderson.

While he may not be an ideal stretch four, Paul Millsap of the Atlanta Hawks would look good with Dwight Howard. Millsap is a hustle player who doesn't complaint about his role, perfect complement for a whiner like Dwight. For Atlanta, they will have a much improved center from Zaza Pachulia (who left them last summer..the didn't even bother to match). What's more, it will make Al Horford play the power forward position, which is his natural position.

Most observers say Horford would be a much better player if he wasn't preoccupied with defending and matching up against opponent's centers. Omer Asik would be great paired with him.

Millsap just signed with the Hawks last summer so he can't be traded until December 15. However, that's not the only hitch..both the Hawks and the Rockets believe that they have the better player in this trade, and are asking for draft picks. The Rockets have lost some leverage because of Asik's public request, and it seems they are waiting for the issue to die down before they make a move.
