James Gandolfini brought New Jersey home to millions of TV viewers who tuned in to "The Sopranos" every Sunday night. On Sunday, the town of Park Ridge, N.J., where James Gandolfini grew up, returned the favor.

Friends and family gathered to honor the late actor, James Gandolfi, to commemorate a street that has been named after him.

James Gandolfini's name will live on in a stretch of Park Avenue in Park Ridge, N.J. The unveiling was held at the Ridge Diner, where Gandolfini spent his Friday nights as a kid. James Gandolfini's street is located between his boyhood home and his high school.

James Gandolfini died of a heart attack in June. He was 52 years old. His friends and family remembered the gentle giant as "the skinny kid who would perform at the 'Little Theater' at Park Ridge High School."

Park Ridge Mayor Terence Maguire called Gandolfini, the "son of Park Ridge." He referenced the New Jersey gangster shown when he joked that he thought "we were going to get a mob," at the unveiling. Looking at the crowed he noted, "It looks like we did."

Gandofini's 14-year-old son Michael said that he would "never forget going to the Park Ridge diner and eating there. He just told me every story about every place here." Michael said Gandolfini "definitely made a point of coming here."

Speakers told of Gandolfini's generosity with philanthropic causes like the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps veterans.

The Park Ridge, N.J., Borough Council also declared Sunday "James Gandolfini Day" in the town.

Among the speakers were Gandolfini's wife, Deborah Lin, and son, "The Sopranos" director Timothy Van Patten and cast members Steve Schirripa, Vincent Curatola, Tony Sirico, Dominic Chianese, Vincent Pastore and John Ventimiglia.
