Five Reasons To Watch FNC Entertainment's Reality Series 'Cheongdamdong 111'

FNC Entertainment has been very competitive in 2013, making the intention of the agency to expand beyond the OST (original soundtrack) and Korean pop rock market very apparent. FNC Entertainment is a subsidiary of CJ E&M Music and Live, with the label coming in third in market shares for music sales, following behind SM Entertainment and YG Entertainment. FNC Entertainment is home to Korean pop rock bands FTISLAND and CNBLUE, as well as girl group AOA and female solo artist Juniel. Cheongdamdong 111 provides the opportunity for audiences to get to know both the established artists and the trainees that are currently housed at FNC Entertainment.

Five Reasons To Watch 'Cheongdamdong 111'

The comical relationship between FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki and FNC Entertainment CEO, Han Sung Ho. Lee Hong Ki maintains a relationship with the Han Sung Ho that many refer to as being a Tom and Jerry style interaction. He actively engages the CEO in hi jinx, while CNBLUE's Jung Yong Hwa remains a calm and collected label mate. In episode one, audiences could not figure out whether or not the show had scripted Lee Hongki's response when asked if he had a girlfriend.

CNBLUE's Kang Min Hyuk is portrayed as a noona-killer. His visuals helps him keep close to the female population at FNC, while it becomes readily apparent that he can be critical of the performance of the up and coming trainees. During a FTISLAND verses CNBLUE trainee challenge, his facial expressions in regards to the lackluster musical performance that is initially exhibited is priceless. Kang Min Hyuk also displays his killer video gaming talent and along with Lee Hong Ki, who says some of the most soundbite worthy things on the program.

Audiences of Cheongdamdong 111 are provided with an opportunity to see the trainees in their development process and hear stories from the more established artists. The trainees exhibit excitement upon receiving a barbeque meat dinner from Jung Yong Hwa, establishing the difficulty of the trainee process.

Cheongdamdong 111 also affords the opportunity to learn more about FNC's CEO Han Sung Ho. Han Sung Ho is a former vocalist who excelled as a master of the OST. Like Yang Hyun Suk and J.Y. Park, his background in performance has enabled him to excel in the music industry.  It becomes readily apparent that Jung Yong Hwa is very much the right hand man to Han Sung Ho, while displaying the nature of a true politician.

With only eight episodes, Cheongdamdong 111 allows audiences to get to know more about an agency they may not have had as much knowledge about.  Over all, the fact that all of the members of CNBLUE and FTISLAND have acted in dramas, within film roles, or in musicals is demonstrated through the comfort of the band members in front of the camera.  With the end of Jung Yong Hwa's drama Marry Him If You Dare and Kang Min Hyuk's The Heirs ending next week, the program is a chance to see more of the stars. Cheongdamdong 111 airs on Thursdays at midnight on tvN, following the drama Let's Eat.
