Groove To LC9’s MaMa Beat At Their First Overseas Performance In Singapore

LC9 held their first overseas performance 'LC9 Showcase Live in Singapore' on November 30. LC9 consists of six members: leader and vocalist Rasa, main rapper E.Den, lead vocalist and rapper J-Hyo, main vocalist King, vocalist and rapper Jun and main dancer, maknae AO. Their group name LC9 stands for League of Competition. For LoveBeats (LC9's Official Fanclub name) who could not be at the showcase, Kpopstarz recaps on the highlights!

They opened the showcase with 'Hold On', J-Hyo and King showed off their powerful vocals and other members joined in from offstage in the later part of the song. They performed 2 more songs from their debut album Skirmish, 'MaMa Beat' and 'Ready Set Go' to the enthusiastic cheers from LoveBeats.

During the first talk segment, J-Hyo said he is thankful that fans managed to come, even though "the weather is very bad" (It was raining in Singapore for consecutive days). When LC9 was asked about their favourite Singapore food, J-Hyo immediately replied, "chilli crab!", while E.Den talked about the dessert "ice kachang". However, E.Den could not name the dessert, so he described it as "dry ice", to the amusement of fans, and he continued to say, "it was pretty good."

Next, LC9 performed a cute dance 'Bounce', which is a Chinese song that is popular in Singapore. While LC9 went backstage for a change of outfits, the emcee chose some fans come onstage to sing a few lines from LC9's songs and two fans danced 'MaMa Beat' together. The emcee also had a little game segment where chosen fans went onstage to answer questions about LC9 to win autographed CDs.

When LC9 returned to the stage in black and white themed hip-hop outfits. The emcee asked which member they want to switch bodies with if they have the chance. King chose E.Den as he is handsome, Rasa said King is handsome too, King replied 'Thank you" and they high-fived each other. When it came to AO, he asked the emcee again in English "body? Only body?" So the emcee reassured him that "you still have your own brain and your own heart, just changing the body." AO replied he wants to change bodies with Rasa. As for J-Hyo, he chose King since he had a feeling that no one else would choose him and he went to give King a high-five. Jun chose AO, as he is very cute. E.Den chose Jun because "no matter how much Jun eats, he does not seem to get fat or gain weight." Rasa chose AO, as he is the youngest. So the oldest member Rasa and the youngest member AO chose to switch bodies with each other, while no one chose J-Hyo.

When asked how often do they use Twitter, Jun revealed that he does check mentions and uploads photos whenever he has time. King said he checks Twitter frequently and he knows some fans' Twitter IDs. (Wow!) Rasa clarified that even though he does not post on Twitter as often as compared to other members, it is not because he does not like to talk to fans, but he does not like to take selcas as he does not really know how to. He hoped that fans will not misunderstand him. (We hope that other members will teach Rasa how to take selcas, so he can update his Twitter just as often as the rest.)

Next, the emcee asked the question that many fans wanted to know, "What are the upcoming plans for LC9?" E.Den replied they are always working on new songs and they will make a comeback in the first half of next year. LC9 will also go to two Asian countries in December and January, but details are not confirmed. They shared that they want to come back to Singapore after their comeback so that they can perform their new songs.

LC9 proceeded to perform a cover of Dynamic Duo's 'Guilty' with the lucky fan who won the stage games previously with her heartfelt rendition of LC9's song 'Hold On'. During the performance, members went really close to her and whenever there was 'skinship' with the lucky fan, all the other fans would scream.

In addition, LC9 also performed covers of One Direction's 'One Thing', Justin Bieber's 'Never Say Never' and David Guetta & Chris Willis ft Fergie & LMFAO's 'Gettin' Over You'. As the showcase was coming to a close, LC9 took the chance to express their gratitude to fans.

Rasa: "It is our first time in Singapore, it is like my dream place, like a paradise, with a beach over there, I would definitely come back again."

AO: "This is my first time traveling out of Korea, if I were to be born again, I would want to be a Singaporean."

J-Hyo: "I have been overseas before with E.Den and Rasa as dancers for our seniors Brown Eyed Girls, but it is a totally difference experience to perform as a group overseas."

As fans were not ready to let LC9 go yet, they chanted "Encore! Encore!" LC9 returned with 'What Makes You Beautiful', a One Direction's song that they made a song cover and filmed a music video, which was shared on their Official Youtube account: officialLC9. LC9 members threw sweets to fans and jumped off the stage enthusiastically, hyping up the crowd and ending their performance on a high note. After the showcase, fans who bought photo session passes went onstage to take individual photos with all members of LC9.

LC9 performed a total of nine songs. This showcase gave both LC9 and LoveBeats memorable experiences. We look forward to seeing LC9 traveling to other countries to meet more overseas LoveBeats!
