Upcoming Android Tablets 2014: Samsung Allegedly Working On Tablets With AMOLED Display, Aims To Take On Apple's iPads Head-To-Head

As the year comes to a close, there are a lot to be excited about next year, one of which are the upcoming Android tablets in 2014. And while no official announcement has been made yet for top manufacturers, the rumor mill is already filled with interesting news.

In a recent report by GSM Arena, a Korean news website reproted that Samsung is allegedly working to improve its 8" and 10" tablets by adding an AMOLED display to them. While this technology is certainly nothing new in the industry and the Korean manufacturer has placed AMOLED displays in its past tablets, more recent ones all have LCD.

Digital Daily mentioned that the tablets may both be announced early next year, just in time for CES or WMC 2014. Meanwhile, this move from Samsung is also seen as a strategy to directly take on Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini 2 which are both powered by the company's famed Retina display.

However, even if the rumor pans out to be true, it is less likely that we'll see all of Samsung's tablets packed by AMOLED display. Like what the company has been doing with its smartphone lineup, midrange models may still feature the cheaper LCD panels.

Samsung has yet to make any announcements regarding tablets with AMOLED display, but let's keep our hands crossed.
