The full run of the new musical production "December," starring Kim 'Xia' Junsu of the K-pop trio JYJ, at Seoul's Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, has sold out, the publication eNEWS reported on Wednesday.

"December" performances are scheduled from December 16 to January 29.

The six-week run means an estimated 50,000 tickets have been sold for the production.

Junsu appears to be on a roll, as he also sold out the 13,000 tickets available for his 2013 Xia Ballad & Musical Concert With Orchestra Volume Two in a mere 15 minutes, with 150,000 fans turned away.

The two events have been South Korea's hottest tickets in town, according to JYJ's record label C-JeS Entertainment.

"Kim Junsu's musical 'December' and concert 2013 Xia Ballad & Musical Concert With Orchestra Volume Two were both ranked number one on Interpark's musical and concert ticket sales chart," the label wrote in an official statement on Wednesday.

At a rehearsal for "December" last month, Junsu reflected on what makes this character different from the parts he has played in the past.

"My character in ['December'], Jiwook, is quite different compared to my previous roles," he told eNEWS at a rehearsal on Friday for the new production.

"In previous musicals, I took on the roles of rather abstract characters doing unrealistic things, like living in an Austrian palace. But this time, I will act out a character that I can relate to. It took me a while to adjust to the change, but now I think I will be able to bring the character to life more realistically than before."

"I have set high expectations for myself and am looking forward to this musical," Junsu added.

The JYJ singer has also appeared in stage productions of "Mozart!," "Tears of Heaven" and "Elizabeth,"

"December" is a love story told over the course of 20 years. The romance reportedly begins in 1992 in Seoul between two students staying abroad with a "homestay" family.

Homestay programs allow students studying abroad the chance to rent a room from a local family to get a sense of local life.
