Girls' Generation Takes Over Japan, 'Love & Peace' Debuts at No.1 on Oricon Daily Albums Chart

Internationally popular K-Pop girl group Girls' Generation proved, once again, to be a force to be reckoned with.

With their latest Japanese album Love & Peace, the nine-member pop group skyrocketed to the top of the Oricon Daily Albums chart, Japan's leading music ranking.

The album was digitally released on December 10 and was followed by physical copies hitting store shelves across Japan the following day.  Love & Peace reportedly sold 37,486 in the first day, earning it the top spot on the chart.

Love & Peace marks the third Japanese studio album for Girls' Generation.  They previously released Girls' Generation in 2011 and Girls & Peace last year, both of which were also extremely well-received.

As with many of the group's previous releases, the album is full of fun and creative pop songs with infectious beats and earworm hooks.

Girls' Generation had already stirred up a lot of expectation for the new album project by pre-releasing three of the album's singles ahead of time - "Love & Girls," "Galaxy Supernova" and "My Oh My."

Three additional tracks on the latest album were also released to the Japanese public ahead of time - "Beep Beep," "Do the Catwalk" and "Linguafranc" have all been buzzing in Japanese fans' heads for a while now.

Despite the fact that none of the individual singles debuted higher than number three on the Oricon Singles Chart, the combination of them with the other nine tracks on Love & Peace appears to be a winning first-day combination.
