North Korea Executes Kim Jong Un’s Uncle For Being The Most ‘Despicable Human Scum’

The military government of North Korea has made another move that again raised eyebrows of its critics from all over the world. However, this time, the man on the losing end of its severe actions is a fellow North Korean, an important figure in the government for the past 30 years.

On Thursday, local online news portal Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that Pyongyang executed Jang Song-thaek, the once-powerful uncle of leader Kim Jong-un, for treason. The newspaper even called Jang, 67, as the most "despicable human scum," "worse than a dog," and a "traitor to the nation for all ages." The news report did not reveal how he was executed.

"Despicable human scum Jang, who was worse than a dog, perpetrated thrice-cursed acts of treachery in betrayal of such profound trust and warmest paternal love shown by the party and the leader for him," the agency said.

"He lost his mind due to his greed for power. He persistently plotted to spread his evil design into the military, believing that he could overthrow the leadership if he could mobilize the military."

According to the news agency, the 67-year old former military official was executed publicly moments after he was charged with treason by a special military court. Photos of Jang being dragged by a number of police out of his seat circulated on the internet few hours after  KCNA confirmed the execution.

This is the second time in this year that Pyongyang Pres. Kim Jong Un allowed execution of his close relatives. Last August, Kim's ex-lover was executed by firing squad along with 12 other performers for violating domestic laws on pornography.

The United States Department called the execution as "another example of the extreme brutality of the North Korean regime."

On the other hand, China, North Korea's main benefactor, urged its ally to "maintain stability" in the government.
