BEAST Rapper Yong Junhyung Questioned By Police For Defamation Lawsuit Filed By XING CEO Kim Kyeong Ok

BEAST Rapper Yong Junhyung was brought in for questioning by Seoul Police on Tuesday for a defamation lawsuit filed by XING Entertainment CEO Kim Kyeong Ok, several South Korean news outlets are reporting.

Kim reportedly filed the suit after Junhyung remarked in a 2012 interview with the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) program "Win Win" that Kim once broke a bottle and brandished it to intimidate him.

"Junhyung was issued a subpoena notice and thus attended the investigation," a representative from BEAST's record label Cube Entertainment told the publication Newsen.

"Since the police are in the middle of their investigation, it is too early to reveal the specifics of the case. We will reveal the results as soon as they come out."

"Junhyung was summoned as the defendant [in the lawsuit]," a different record label rep told Star News. "There was no change in his statement that he did not lie during his [previous court] testimony."

Junhyung was signed to XING Entertainment back in 2006 before joining BEAST, in the band XING with U-KISS singer Kevin Woo, performing under the stage name Poppin' Dragon.

"I had a 10-year slave contract but my record label didn't keep any of their promises so I expressed that I wanted to leave," Junhyung said in the now infamous 2012 interview.

"The XING CEO [Kim Kyeong Ok], who heard my words, called me over to the bar. The CEO was very drunk and broke a bottle right in front of me, and said 'do you want to stay with me or not?'"

Woo's contract was reportedly thrown out by a Seoul Court back in 2010, for being unfair.

Back in October, a Seoul Southern District Court judge ordered KBS to issue an on-air retraction for Junhyung's "Win Win" statements.

"KBS needs to broadcast a refuting report ahead of their programs 'Cool Kiz on the Block' and 'Entertainment Weekly' letting people know 'there is no truth to Junhyung's claim that his previous agency's president threatened him with a broken bottle,'" read the Seoul Southern District Court decision, according to the publication Chosun Ilbo.

KBS executives are fighting the court-mandated apology, the publication My Daily reported shortly after the verdict was handed down.

"KBS has appealed the court's decision," read an official network statement.

"In the first trial [regarding the record contract] it had been confirmed that Junhyung's remarks could not be seen as a false accusation."
