Yim Siwan Of ZE:A Had His Luggage Searched At The Airport After Actress Ye Jiwon Asked Him To Bring Yeast

Singer Yim Siwan of the nine-member K-pop boy band Z:EA, nearly found himself in some hot water on a recent trip to the island region of Micronesia to shoot the reality show "Law of the Jungle."

The trouble arose after actress Ye Jiwon, also appearing in the "Law of the Jungle" episode, asked Siwan to bring along some yeast with him for culinary purposes, Siwan explained at a press conference on Tuesday for the show, at the Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) Hall in Seoul.

"I was in the second [group of stars appearing in the 'Law of the Jungle' episode] to leave, but the first group gave me a mission," the ZE:A singer said, according to eNEWS.

"Ye Jiwon asked me to bring yeast and since she is my senior and it was my first time meeting her, I couldn't just easily ignore her request. I packed the yeast, but it got caught during the bag search. I didn't know how to explain yeast in English."

When airport security agents discovered the white powdery substance in Siwan's  luggage they reportedly thought he was a drug smuggler.

After discovering the true composition of Siwan's extra cargo, he was let off the hook, following a thorough search of the rest of his baggage.

Ye, also in attendance at Tuesday's "Law of the Jungle" press conference, admitted that she and her team asked Siwan to bring the yeast as a practical joke, never expecting him to actually follow through with the request.

Yet, despite the traveling hardship that the ZE:A singer endured, she disclosed that the yeast was put to good use.

"Thanks to him, we created a one-of-a-kind coconut makgeolli," Ye said.

Makgeolli is an alcoholic beverage native to Korea.

And ever the good sport, Siwan claims the incident wasn't that big a deal.

"It was a hurt that wasn′t really a hurt," he said.

The "Law of the Jungle" episode featuring Yim and Siwan will air on SBS on Friday.
