‘X-Men Apocalypse' Plot Spoilers - Bryan Singer, Writers Have Midnight Session; 'Snowing In Egypt' Hints At Apocalypse Origin Story

Director Bryan Singer is not wasting any time. While still on post-production for "X-Men: Days of Future Past." he has already assembled the writers for the next installment, "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In a photo that he shared on Twitter, Singer was in a meeting with "Days of Future Past" writer Simon Kinberg as well as "X2: X-Men United" screenwriters Mike Dougherty and Dan Harris!

The additional tweet about "Snowing in Egypt" refers to the origin of Apocalypse, whose real name is En Sabah Nur.

From the Marvel database, the origin of Apocalypse is described:

"En Sabah Nur was born nearly five thousand years ago in a lone settlement on the very edge of the Amentet and the very edge of the Valley of the Kings, in Egypt, as a member of a tribe in Akkaba."

The root of his hatred is traced to how his own tribe had treated him because he was visibly different.

"Ugly and malformed, the infant was abandoned by the tribe, to die in the harsh desert sun. However, out of the desert, the Sandstormers, a roving band of feared nomadic raiders, slaughter the citizens of Akkaba. Their leader, Baal of the Crimson Sands, found the infant crying and recognized the potential power in the child. Baal named the infant En Sabah Nur, literally meaning "The First One", and raised him as his own son."

The character of Apocalypse is pivotal to the mutant universe, and it was a stroke of genius that Singer chose him to be the villain. He would be a worthy match-up to Thanos, whom Marvel is rumored to be setting up for the Phase 3 cosmic battle.

Comic book enthusiasts are pointing to two possible storylines for the movie: "The Age of Apocalypse" or "Apocalypse: the Twelve."

Both these storylines involve Apocalypse's main principle of 'survival of the fittest.' He believes that the mutant race is superior to the human race, and therefore, the human race must be annihilated.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" is geared for a  May 27, 2016 release date, 2 years after "Days of Future Past."
