A Review of Son Dam Bi's "Red Candle" MV

The first thing I thought about when this first started playing was how closely it resembled to Britney Spears's "Lucky." "She's so lucky, she's a star, but she cry cry cries in her lonely heart," best describes Dambi's new single "Red Candle" in a nutshell. We get the concept, we've seen it before, and I think I can speak for all of us when I say-could we get something out of the box and different here?

Before she debuted, Son Dambi was dubbed the female Rain and all had high hopes for her career. Unfortunately, Son Dambi never really quite made it to be the big star her agency wanted her to be and become. When I heard she was making a comeback, I had high hopes for "Red Candle" to completely blow me out of the water, unfortunately, it kept me in a bath full of lukewarm water throughout the entirety of the music video and I had no desire to leap out.

The song itself isn't comeback worthy nor was it worth the wait. It's not catchy enough for Dambi or a strong enough single that screams, "here I am world!" Dambi has got all the tools to be a superstar. She's beautiful, tall, likeable, and quite the talented dancer. She's got all the ingredients to make it, but not the right song to get her there.

All in all, I give Dambi's "Red Candle" a nay. Hopefully this gorgeous gal will bring her A game for her next single!
